RB McGrath - Brief bio:

    
Born in place known as Easter cove, in a small fishing village named Branch located in St. Mary's Bay on the island of Newfoundland to a single mother who later married a U.S. Air Force man.  The family transfered to Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Arkansas in 1965 where the artist has maintained residence since that time, save for periodic forays to San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Boston, Dallas Texas, Phoenix, AZ, Michigan, Montreal, and St. John's, NFLD.

     The artist has held many jobs which include a food service worker, a mobile home factory worker, an on air radio announcer, a boiler room manager for pager sales, a dish washer, a short order cook, a store manager, an arts and theater reviewer for a San Diego based weekly, a banquet decorator for Northeastern University, an independent profiler for job searchers, a private investigator, a film extra, a departmental manager for two major retail chains, and a hair stylist.

     Drawing and painting from early childhood McGrath began a serious pursuit as a painter in the mid 1980's.  The first large scale work was an eight by ten foot mural (Mother Earth) for Northeastern University in Boston.  Another large scale work is on display at the Jacksonville Police Department in Arkansas, for whom McGrath also designed the CID Department insignia.   McGrath's work includes a six by six foot abstract painting installed in the new multi-million dollar Esther D.Nixon Library  in Jacksonville, Arkansas, a large portrait of Salvatore Moltisanti, President and Founder of the IBLA International Musicians Competition in Ragusa, Sicily, now on exhibit at the IBLA Headquarters in New York City.  Recent work includes a Portrait of Dr. Alan Storeygard - Composer and Pianist and IBLA International winner 2002. A large scale painting of President William Jefferson Clinton, completed May of 2010 and presented to Mr. and Mrs. Clinton on September 30th of 2011 at the Clinton Presidential Center Library in Little Rock, The Clinton portrait is now part of the Clinton Foundation collection and hangs in the foundation offices at the Presidential Center. A ortrait of Mr. Sherman Banks - President Banks Intl. Consulting and past President of Sister Cities International, and a commission portrait for Joan Zumwalt, Founder of Path Finders, Inc.  McGrath's  Portrait of Governor Mike Beebe of Arkansas, for which the Governor sat for the Artist, was unveiled for Governor Beebe on March 2nd at the State Capital in Little Rock and is part of the Mansion Permanent collection, and is on view to the public at the Arkansas Governors Mansion. Most recent works include a Portrait of The Honorable Gary Fletcher, Mayor, Jacksonville, Arkansas unveiled for the Mayor in February of 2012, and a Portrait of Judge Robert Batton, District Court, Jacksonville, Arkansas.

      In addition to producing small, medium, and large scale  works in oil, in a warehouse studio down by the railroad tracks in Jacksonville, McGrath is also an amateur violinist and cellist and plays violin in a string ensemble in weekend sessions at the studio and gallery.
